SonicWall Independence Day
You may recall Francisco Partners and Elliot Management entered into an agreement in June with Dell to acquire SonicWall. The transaction was completed at the beginning of the month, along with the rebranding of the company and the appointment of a new CEO, Bill Conner.
Having spent the bulk of his career in cyber security roles, Bill will be focusing on:
- Next-generation firewall features
- Cloud-based GMS UI, UX and API capabilities
- Next-generation SonicOS and hardware platforms
Commenting on the SonicWall news, Managing Director of NetThreat, Jon Rayment said,
"One has to express cautious optimism, bordering upon excitement about this latest news from SonicWall. Although under Dell the development of technology and focus on product quality has been evident, there has been a conflict between the vendor and reseller community as well as a feeling that the product didn’t quite ‘fit’ within the portfolio.
The idea of an independent, well-funded SonicWall with a renewed focus on their core business is something we very much look forward to seeing the fruits of in the coming months.”
